The Role
We are looking for a talented individual with a passion for project management and collaborating with others.

In this exciting role, you will:

  • Work as part of the divisional Program Office and with a variety of stakeholders, providing project management support to deliver Science & Technology (S&T) programs.
  • Assist in developing a knowledge base and guides; and support program teams to initiate and manage S&T projects.
  • Develop a sound understanding of the project key priorities and requirements, and assist in transposing these into a resourced program of deliverables. This includes being responsible for one or more of the following: support management of schedules; risks; budgets and resources; and reports relating to the project progress and issues.
  • Exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
  • Support Program Leaders in setting up research contract agreements and monitoring the delivery of key milestones.
  • Have the opportunity to learn Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®) and apply this framework in the workplace to achieve Defence outcomes.

Note: Candidates will have the opportunity to commence with a lower security clearance, however, will need to be able to obtain and a Positive Vetting Security Clearance following commencement.

Building Defence Capability Payment:

This position will be subject to a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) from 13 April 2023. Please refer to the Defence Enterprise Agreement 2017-2020 for more information on BDCPs.

The total remuneration for this position is $94,167 - $107,569 plus Super.

This is inclusive of a substantive salary of $85,607 - $97,790 plus Super and a BDCP premium of 10%.

BDCPs apply, subject to the following:
  • Meeting eligibility criteria and maintaining effective performance.
  • BDCPs are subject to regular reviews and may be ceased or varied at any time in accordance with Defence Policy.
  • BDCPs may cease should you change positions that no longer attract a BDCP.
  • Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your salary will revert to your substantive salary.

Cyber, Intelligence and National Security division leads the delivery of innovation and science and technology programs for Defence intelligence, joint capabilities and joint operations.

  • Sound project management experience and knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Ability to assist in program planning, management and assurance. This includes ability to provide assistance with three or more tasks listed below:
      • Developing a knowledge base on how to initiate and manage S&T projects and programs to mature the project management discipline in the division
      • Development of processes, templates and best practice guides using project management methodologies
      • Developing and deliver project management training to divisional staff
      • Procurement and contract management
      • Monitoring and reporting of divisional finances
      • Designing and development of project and program reports
      • Project scheduling, resource planning and status reporting
  • Ability to build and sustain stakeholder engagement, communicating with influence and negotiating effectively (both written and verbal)
  • Adaptable and resilient in a changing environment
  • Ability to resolve issues, harnessing diverse views and encouraging an inclusive team culture
